Women's Retreat 2015
This year our women’s retreat will be held at Lakeside Bible Camp on Whidbey Island from Friday evening, September 25 to Sunday morning, September 27.
The theme for our annual Women’s Retreat is PRESS IN. Guided by the spirit of James 1.22-25, our time will focus on God’s Word. Believing God’s Word, and doing what it says for His glory and our joy. Our time at the retreat will focus on three different areas of discipleship, in order of their importance: First, we will call women to “Press into the Word”. Second, we will call women to “Press into One Another.” Third, we will call women to “Press into the World.”
Press into the Word || We serve THE God who makes himself known through His Word. Depth of relationship with Him comes through time with Him, spent in the Scriptures. It is there God speaks to us, guides us, convicts us, and encourages us. A devotion to God's Word results in our joy as we are reminded of who He is, who we are, what He's done, and the riches of what we've received!
Press into One Another || God adopts us into His family and makes us sisters through Christ. God intends for our faith to be personal, but not private. We need family and the family needs us. Before we seek to reach the lost, we are called to love one another. Loving one another like family is difficult but rewarding. We must press against our flesh and learn how to know one another, encourage one another, and serve one another.
Press into the World || God saves us and sends us on mission. In other words, our salvation is not for us—we are ambassadors who have been given a message of reconciliation. Pressing into the world means bringing the restoration we’ve already experienced to those who need it most. Some are called to go, and others are called to support those who go. We will hear from a few women who are currently “Pressing into the World” and learn how we can get involved in the different ministries they represent.
Essentially, we hope the retreat reminds us that when Jesus saves us to Himself, He also saves us to a people, and to a mission. What begins as hearing from Jesus will always result in doing for and going with Jesus. All of our “Pressing” does not represent efforts to obtain His love, rather, it is the natural response of those who have already received it.
